The clinician
Founded by Therese Morin, PMHNP-BC.
Therese Morin, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and founder of Isla Psychiatry, a modern mental wellness practice built on the belief that healing is most powerful when it honors the whole person: mind, body, and lived experience.
Therese's practice is rooted in trauma-informed, evidence-based care delivered with genuine warmth and clinical depth. She creates a space where patients feel truly seen, not just assessed, and where the goal is lasting change, not symptom management alone.
Known for her collaborative approach, she partners with patients to understand the patterns beneath their struggles, build resilience, and move toward sustainable emotional wellness at their own pace.
Therese's background spans outpatient psychiatry, inpatient behavioral health, long-term care, and private practice. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Virginia Commonwealth University, with ongoing interests in integrative psychiatry, trauma recovery, women's mental health, and neuropsychiatric wellness.
Through Isla Psychiatry, her vision is simple: thoughtful, personalized care in a calm, modern space where healing and self-understanding can thrive.

Conservative prescribing
The right medication, at the lowest effective dose, for as long as it's helpful. We monitor closely and taper when it makes sense.
Coordinated care
Therapy, primary care, and specialty providers do better work when they're in conversation. With your consent, we keep them in the loop.
Honest about limits
Psychiatry can't fix every hard thing — and we'll tell you when it can't. Honesty is part of the treatment.
Room to reschedule
Things come up. You can move a visit when they do, and messages are answered within 24 to 48 business hours.
Privacy by design
Your information is handled carefully. We don't ask for sensitive details over insecure channels, and we'll always say which method to use.
Licensed and credentialed in Virginia
Care is delivered under Virginia state licensure to patients located in Virginia at the time of the visit. License numbers and DEA registration available on request.
